SVMB Students of the Year
Meghana Chintala | Team CUREblood
Welcome to Meghana Chintala's SOY Fundraising Page!
Thank you for visiting my LLS fundraising page! My name is Meghana Chintala.
I am honored to be supporting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Student of the Year program which is a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team who raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year and I'm proud to be supporting my team. My mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Cancer touches the lives of millions of people every year. I am in this campaign in memory of my great aunt who passed away a few years ago from lung cancer. At that time, I knew very little about cancer and how greatly it impacted the lives of individuals. Fortunately, I was introduced to this program by my math teacher, Mr. Dhillon; I saw this as an opportunity to further raise awareness. His son, Armaan, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2014, and has now completed treatment! It surprised me to hear that such young people are being diagnosed with blood cancer. "Every 3 minutes, somebody is diagnosed with a blood cancer", yet many of us lack the knowledge or ability to take action against it. These individuals and many others that have some relation to cancer have inspired me to join this campaign.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provides therapies not only to help blood cancer patients, but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. The survival rates for many blood cancer patients have substantially increased over the years through the work of LLS. Through the Students of the Year campaign, I have the rare and wonderful opportunity to help the lives of those affected.
Now, I am asking you to be a part of this mission that brings the community together under one cause to make a difference. Together, we can help fund therapies and treatments that these patients deserve.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need. For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org.
My teammates and I are seeking corporate sponsorships and/or company matchings. If interested, please contact me at chintala.meghana@gmail.com or my team atteamcureblood@gmail.com.
Every dollar counts, so join me on this journey to help crush cancer!
Thank you for your time and support,
Meghana Chintala
