Welcome to Skye Boreham's SOY Fundraising Page!

Feb 21, 2020

Dear Friends & Family,

This Spring I have chosen to help save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a candidate in LLS’s Student of the Year philanthropic, service & leadership program. The Student of the Year (SOY) campaign, is a seven-week initiative in which high school students from around the country are nominated to participate in a fundraising effort. We are helping to advance LLS’s mission of finding a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and Myeloma, as well as to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

I chose to participate in this amazing opportunity because cancer has touched and taken people in my life. My grandpa died of leukemia at 47 and I was never able to meet him. More recently, a good family friend of ours died from the same type of leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia. Because of this, I am extremely passionate about fundraising for research to help find a cure.

LLS is advancing its mission with many incredible accomplishments! LLS was founded 70 years ago, and since then, it has created 1.3 BILLION dollars for research. LLS has also funded 46 of the last 53 cancer drugs approved by the FDA. Lastly, while all LLS funded research begins in blood cancer, LLS has actually funded 60% of the blood cancer therapies that are now being used to treat other forms of cancer! So when you support LLS, you are ultimately helping to create clinical breakthroughs in multiple forms of cancer such as breast, brain & colon cancer.

But there is still more to do because every 3 minutes, someone in our country is diagnosed with a blood cancer.

This is why I'm turning to you for your help and support in the battle of fighting cancer. My team and I have set a goal to raise $15,000 and we can’t do it without you. Together we can make a difference in people's lives.  All donations are greatly appreciated and will support cancer research, patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.

Please accept my sincerest thanks for any donation you wish to make.

With much love & gratitude,

Skye

We are happy to make a donation in memory of John J Winter (father of Janet Stone). He was a Korean War Navy Veteran. Thank you for participating in this worthwhile fundraising event. Very proud of you, Skye.
