Dear Friends & Family,

This Spring I have chosen to help save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a candidate in LLS’s Student of the Year philanthropic, service & leadership program. The Student of the Year (SOY) campaign, is a seven-week initiative in which high school students from around the country are nominated to participate in a fundraising effort. We are helping to advance LLS’s mission of finding a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and Myeloma, as well as to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

From personal experience, I know that cancer can touch lives in an indescribable and crippling way. Just last year, my grandfather passed away from lung cancer, and just recently, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The anxiety that a cancer diagnosis brings is devastating, and I hope that in the future, no one will have to experience such pain. For this reason, I am running for LLS Student of the Year; I hope to put an end to all blood cancers through research and medical innovation and to alleviate financial burdens for suffering families, with your help.

Just recently, my other grandfather, my Papou, was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrom (aka pre-leukemia). This diagnosis is frigehtning and has left me uncertain about the future I have remaining with my loved one. With your support, and through the amazing work of LLS, we can ensure a brigther tomorrow, free of such diagnoses and their complications.

LLS is advancing its mission with many incredible accomplishments! LLS was founded 70 years ago, and since then, it has created 1.3 BILLION dollars for research. LLS has also funded 46 of the last 53 cancer drugs approved by the FDA. Lastly, while all LLS funded research begins in blood cancer, LLS has actually funded 60% of the blood cancer therapies that are now being used to treat other forms of cancer! But there is still more to do because every 3 minutes, someone in our country is diagnosed with a blood cancer. 

This is why I'm turning to you for your help and support in the battle of fighting cancer. My team NO STOPPING NICK and I have set a goal to raise $25,000 and we can’t do it without you. Together we can make a difference in people's lives.  All donations are greatly appreciated and will support cancer research, patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.
