Welcome to Avery Jones' SOY Fundraising Page!
Dear Friends & Family,
This Spring I have chosen to help save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a candidate in LLS’s Student of the Year philanthropic, service & leadership program. The Student of the Year (SOY) campaign, is a seven-week initiative in which high school students from around the country are nominated to participate in a fundraising effort. We are helping to advance LLS’s mission of finding a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and Myeloma, as well as to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
I want to help people because, compared to the universe, a single human is nothing. Yet, If we’re nothing and alone in the universe then it would follow that we are massively significant because that means that we only have each other. The striking truth behind the blood diseases that LLS benefits is that they aren’t short lived. Once diagnosed, patients endures between 3 and 10 years fighting for their lives and after the first 10 months of necessary treatments, families often can’t afford to pay for them anymore. The money that goes into LLS goes directly to patients and their families to ensure that they have the money to get the treatments they need. We can't allow ourselves to just live in our own world. Our one world and this one life is the only one we have, and I want to spend the time that I have helping others.
I want to help people because alone, we are nothing: but together we are everything.
LLS is advancing its mission with many incredible accomplishments! LLS was founded 70 years ago, and since then, it has created 1.3 BILLION dollars for research. LLS has also funded 46 of the last 53 cancer drugs approved by the FDA. Lastly, while all LLS funded research begins in blood cancer, LLS has actually funded 60% of the blood cancer therapies that are now being used to treat other forms of cancer! But there is still more to do because every 3 minutes, someone in our country is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
This is why I'm turning to you for your help and support in the battle of fighting cancer. My team UNSTOPPABLE and I have set a goal to raise $25,000 and we can’t do it without you. Together we can make a difference in people's lives. All donations are greatly appreciated and will support cancer research, patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.
Please accept my sincerest thanks for any donation you wish to make.
With much love & gratitude,
Avery

Avery, thank you so much for supporting this great cause, especially given Josh's diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The fight is non-stop and the support from your fundraising efforts are so critical to the mission of LLS. Without LLS pushing new drugs into the market, Josh would not have had access to the drug that put him into remission. Thank you so much!!!!!
