Students of the Year San Antonio
Alix Rios & Allie del Olmo | The "A" Team Campaign Team
Welcome to The A Team's SOY Fundraising Page!
Thank you to everyone who has donated to my daughter, Allie del Olmo’s, Students of the Year Campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and her mission to raise $150,000. Each of you are champions for the cause!
Our work isn’t done yet! We still need to raise $150,000 by February 29th. By raising $150,000 The A Team will earn a trip to New York with LLS to the Annual LLS Research Symposium. Help the A Team get to NYC, save lives and find a cure for blood cancer! If you haven’t had a moment please make a tax-deductible donation!
Your donation is appreciated by the millions battling these diseases. For that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It is not too late to join us in this fight! Thank you for your support!
Meet Kate:
One of my daughter’s friends, Kate, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, she is 16 years old and a sophomore at Alamo Heights High School. The cancer was found in her lymphatic system, in her chest and lungs. She has had 3 surgeries, a collapsed lung and platelet transfusions. She went through 5 rounds of chemotherapy. On Friday December the 27th she finished her last dose of Chemo. We are raising money to help find a cure for blood cancers, and with your help you could improve the lives of people with blood cancer, like our friend Kate.
The A Team, Alix Rios & Allie del Olmo: Honoree Team Member Kate
Let me share some facts:
- Approximately every 3 minutes someone in the US is diagnosed with blood cancer and every 10 minutes, someone dies.
- Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20.
- The relative five-year survival rate for patients with leukemia has more than quadrupled since 1960. (Due to support from people like you!)
- See how you help!
What the A Team has learned:
It has been so wonderful seeing Allie and Alix blossom throughout their seven-week Students of the Year Campaign fundraising competition. They have learned to utilize their skills and networks while building skills in marketing, business development, letter writing, public speaking, team leading, event planning and more! This experience been invaluable for the girls to learn the philanthropic mindset, how much effort goes into leading a team, how to set and achieve goals and gain confidence. I am so proud of what they have accomplished and cannot wait to see what they will accomplish by February 29th!
Kickoff 2020
The A Team was honored to receive Hall of Fame status at Fridays the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Students of the Year 2020 kickoff. Our fundraising campaign has officially started! Help The A Team raise awareness and fight for a cure in honor of their friend Kate. Please share our posts and donate.
This week the A Team will try to get as many online donations as possible to receive a huge incentive to their campaign.
Why we do this – One of our friends, Kate, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, she is 16 years old and a sophomore at Alamo Heights High School. The cancer was found in her lymphatic system, in her chest and lungs. She has had 3 surgeries, a collapsed lung and platelet transfusions. She went through 5 rounds of chemotherapy. On Friday the 27th she finished her last dose of Chemo. Today she begins to heal, regrow her hair and get back to the normal life of a sophomore! We are hoping to help raise money to find a cure for blood cancers, and with your help you could improve the lives of people with blood cancer like our friend Kate.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Welcome to The "A" Team's SOY Fundraising Page!
The "A" Team, Alix Rios & Allie del Olmo, are honored to participate as a candidate team for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are running for LLS Students of the Year as a team called The “A” Team. We are raising critical dollars in honor of one of our friends, Kate, a young patient who is currently battling blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Students of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Our friend, Kate, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She is 16 years old and a sophomore at Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment. We are raising money to find a cure for blood cancers, and with your help you could improve the lives of people with blood cancer like our friend Kate. Leukemia is the #1 most diagnosed form of childhood cancer. LLS funded more than 60% of the blood cancer therapies being used to treat other cancers. Every 3 minutes someone in the US is diagnosed with blood cancer and every 9 minutes someone dies from blood cancer, we need your help to change that.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
