SqUAsh's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Feb 02, 2022

We have been nominated as a candidate team for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year campaign. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting blood cancer. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.  For seven weeks, starting February 16, high school students in the greater Cincinnati area will be raising money through the Student of the Year Campaign, a leadership development program dedicated to fighting cancer through fundraising.  Since we are all women of Ursuline Academy, we are team sqUAsh cancer, and we could not be more excited to make a difference in the lives of patients across the country.

Today, 1.4 million Americans are fighting or are in remission from blood cancers. Sadly, every 3 minutes another person joins the fight. Leukemia still causes more deaths than any other cancer among children under the age of 20. Our campaign provides an opportunity to support the critical work of LLS in fighting these diseases. It would mean a lot to us if you would consider donating to our campaign.

Each of us have a personal connection to fundraising for cancer. Alison learned about SOY about five years ago when she attended campaign events for one of her mom’s students, Leah, a leukemia survivor.  Julia’s family friend Holly recently beat lymphoma, which inspired Julia to accept the campaign nomination.  We have accepted the challenge to raise money in honor of Leah, Holly, and so many others who deserve the opportunity to spend more time with their loved ones.

Your donation is tax deductible. To donate online, please visit our fundraising webpage on or after February 16, 2022: https://events.lls.org/soh/tristatesoy22/sqUAshcancer

You will receive an email from LLS verifying your donation.  If you would prefer to donate before February 16, you can mail your donation. Your check should be payable to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with sqUAsh cancer on the memo line.  Send your check to 11664 Symmes Valley Drive, Loveland, Ohio 45140.  The deadline for receiving contributions is April 7, 2022.

Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or one of your connections who would be willing to donate goods or services. We are looking for raffle items, auction items, sponsorships, advertisements, or other possible fundraising opportunities.  Large or small, your contribution to this worthy effort will be greatly appreciated.

Help be a part of the cure and help sqUAsh cancer meet - or exceed - our $20,000 goal!  Thank you in advance for your time, consideration, and support of the mission of LLS.

Relentless for a cure,

team sqUAsh cancer

SqUAsh's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Oct 19, 2021

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

This charity has meant a lot to me over the past 10+ years. When I saw the 90-minute OTF fundraiser workout at Montgomery, I was definitely going to be there and support LLS!!!
