Welcome to Jaynie Pulaski's SOY Fundraising Page!
I am honored to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to be raising critical dollars! I always wanted to make a difference but in recent years, and partly due to some of my own chronic health issues, including depression, I ignored that part of me. I was scared to participate in things fearing I would disappoint myself and others. As a wide eyed child, I had an abundance of this drive, but it was replaced with fear and hopelessness. When I was given this opportunity, I felt a spark of my old self surface. That spark is now a fire and I'm committed to help end cancer and spread kindness. Hence, my team name, Wide Eyed, was born. I am also participating to honor my friend's dad, Jeff Sharkey, who was diagnosed with lymphoma this past April. Thanks to all of the treatment advances, he is currently beating the disease much to the happiness of his two children and wife. I want to honor his optimism and humor(he told us cancer jokes were not off the table) which has always shined brighter than anyone's fears or doubts.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

Jaynie, Well done on your efforts. My sister ( Varsha's sister) passed from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma 6 years ago and she fought until the end. Since then so many new therapies and treatments have become available because of LLS research. We wish Mr. Sharkey the best in his fight. Jon and Varsha
