Students of the Year Cincinnati
Team Infinity | Team Infinity's Campaign Team
Welcome to Team Infinity's SOY Fundraising Page!
Welcome to our fundraising page!! We are so excited to be participating in this program for a second time! We have learned so much and can’t wait to start fundraising and bringing awareness to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This program is a seven-week fundraising competition between students from high schools around Cincinnati, Ohio to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year.
Team Infinity is made up of three seniors from Mariemont High School. Ava Hatcher, Sydney Price, and Megan Betts participated in this program two years ago, and can’t wait to do it again this year. Now although we may all have a different “why” for participating, we are all coming together for the same reason. To help find a cure for cancer.
You can follow our journey and find updates to our campaign here on our website, Instagram (@teaminfinity4lls) and Facebook (@teaminfinity4lls)!! Be sure to like and follow!!
Ava’s dad, Christopher Hatcher, was diagnosed with CLL, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, in 2000. After many unsuccessful chemotherapy treatments, in 2006 her family moved to Houston, Texas for her dad to receive a stem cell transplant at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The first transplant was unsuccessful, but the second one succeeded and he is living cancer-free today! Years later in 2010 Ava’s grandmother, Joan Hatcher, was diagnosed with AITL, a rare form of lymphoma. She was diagnosed when she was 77 years old. Because of her age, a stem cell transplant was not an option, and chemotherapy was too rough for her. There was nothing else the doctors could do, so they decided to make her more comfortable and put her in a hospice center. She later died in March of 2011.
Sydney greatly accepted this opportunity when Ava decided she was going to run again for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year. Sydney says after running previously in 2018 and doing so well after joining so late in the game, she was very excited to do it bigger and better a second time around. Sydney decided to run alongside the other girls is because of Ava. She is running in honor of her father and grandmother who both battled blood cancers. Sydney feels very special to be apart of this campaign again and is proud to support her and fight for a cure together.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
With yout help and support, we are trying to raiser money to help find a cure for Leukemia and Lymphoma. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to help find a cure for the thousands of people around the world battling blood cancer. Any donation can help, and save a patient in need today.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
