We are honored to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country raise awareness and much needed funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In 2016, we created Team ALL In to raise awareness about ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, the most common pediatric cancer) and other blood cancers, and we are thrilled to be entering our third year of supporting this wonderful organization. We are proud to be doing our small part to support the victims of blood cancers and to fund life-saving research. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

The need is critical: Nearly 1.2 million people in North America are living with, or are in remission from, leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, myeloma and myelodysplastic syndromes. Approximately every three minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer. Approximately every 10 minutes, someone dies.

Thanks to research, survival rates for patients with many blood cancers have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled since the early 1960s. Despite these advances, about one third of patients with a blood cancer still do not survive even five years after their diagnosis, which is why more funding is needed to bring better therapies to patients, and faster.

Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
