When I was 3 years old, I remember asking my mom where her dad was. She looked at me with a sad smile and said that he had passed away two years before I was born. I remember all my friends would go to their grandpa’s house and watch TV or play with them, but I never had my experience. Instead, I was able to learn about my grandpa through stories from my mom and grandma. I remember hearing about his kind soul and his passions. Before he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and passed away, he was truly an inspiration to my mom and impacted the way that she raises me today. I am fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society because I know the impact that cancer has on families and what patient resources and research can do for families. Through fundraising, I am able to directly impact patients and their families, so they can have the opportunity to bond with their family, which was an experience that I didn’t have. 

I'm interested in this campaign and mission because I understand what it's like to have a family member who has cancer. It's an extremely difficult situation that nobody should ever have to face and I hope that I can prevent that by fundraising. The money raised by my efforts will help improve the lives of cancer patients, give support to their families, and benefit the community overall which is exactly what I'd like to do.
