I am a sophomore at the Adelson Educational Campus. My passion is to help people, specifically teens and families who have experienced trauma. I have been part of the Students of the year campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma for 3 years. Last year, I raised almost $8,000 for my team. I am also an ambassador at my school and on the student council. I am an award winning photographer and have been photographing this year for my AP Photography Portfolio with a focus on trauma.

Throughout the majority of my life, I have always wanted to give back to my community. I was introduced to the LLS SoY campaign two years ago, when my brother’s girlfriend was a candidate. I saw first hand how the efforts of this campaign can truly help with research, but more importantly how it helps the families. My family has been the recipient of community support through my older brother’s many surgeries and after my father’s death. My mother was also just diagnosed with cancer. Leading Team Lifesavers gives me an opportunity to give back. I can now help to support families dealing with blood cancers in a way that has a true daily impact on their lives. This allows me also to show gratitude to all those that have helped our family.

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?
 
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
