Throwback to 2013:

In 2013, I was only in second grade and this is when I got involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma society for the first time. My aunt, Alexandra Arguelles, was running for Women of the Year and she asked for help with raising money. Being in second grade, I couldn’t think of a better way of raising money than holding a bake sale.

I was so happy and excited to help my aunt. I made flyers for the people in my neighborhood and got all my friends involved. The bake sale turned out to be a success! My aunt also taught me what a great organization I was raising money for. My aunts best friends mother, actually passed away from Leukemia. She considered her to be her second mom, she loved her so much and wanted to make a change and raise money to find a cure. Sadly enough, I know that many more families are affected by the loss of loved ones due to cancer. I really can’t think of a better way to give back than to work on finding a cure. 

Very well deserved my aunt ended up winning Woman of the Year by raising $75,000!
    

With her, I participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma walk where she was crowned Woman of the Year. I was so proud of her and really looked up to her for doing something so incredible.

Fast Foward to 2020, my aunt decided to ask my cousin, who is a sophomore from Belen, Jac Costa and I, now a sophomore from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, to participate in running for Student of the Year to go along in her footsteps of success. When she asked us, it was an automatic yes from us both! I was beyond honored that she asked me to participate in something that I had always looked up to her for. 

Jac and I are now running for Student of the Year in 2021 with a team we set up with our friends called: We got CUREage. We hope to raise as much money as possible with your help!
