Although this past year has been full of crazy twists and turns, I have been given the unique opportunity to connect with and help those impacted by blood cancers. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the largest nonprofit dedicated toward beating blood cancers, has nominated 2 special candidates for the Student of the Year campaign in South Florida. I’m honored to be a part of their team and fight toward beating blood cancer. In order for them to win the title of Student of the Year, for the next 7 weeks (February 4th- March 25th), my team and I will have to raise the most money for LLS’s campaign. 

I am honoring those who have battled cancers, like my grandfather, Clemente, who was lucky enough to beat leukemia with a bone marrow transplant. He passed away a few years later, and I don’t remember a lot about him, but what I will never forget is how much of a fighter he was. His life was flipped upside down by the devastating diagnosis and it even required him to uproot his life and move to Texas for some time. Sadly, I know of several others in our community who have had to endure the painful loss of a loved one to cancer. Our goal is to raise money that will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find a cure and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. I know that many of us have a common goal: a world without cancer. With your help, the skies the limit as LLS can do this one day at a time; one dollar at time. 

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes someone dies. Help us to change the statistics and make a difference during difficult times like these! Every penny counts, and will surely put a smile on all those currently fighting for their lives (all donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible!).
