Bernard Llave along wife his wife Dee Christman, created team b.strong to raise money and awareness in pursuit of the ultimate goal - a cure for blood cancer.  Bernard was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia  (AML) in 2012.  Bernard courageously battled cancer for 8 years prior to passing away in 2020.  Even after his diagnosis, Bernard contiued to participate in endurance events to raise money for LLS.  Along the way he helped to inspire countless people to keep fighting whatever battles they were facing and to do so with grace, humility and strength.

Candidates Alejandra and Mitra are honored to be running under the b.strong banner as part of the Student Visionaries of the Year campaign.  They are hoping to spread the word about the great work that Bernard and Dee have done for blood cancer patients and continue to support the legacy of b.strong through fundraising for LLS.
