Welcome to Sarah Barrientos' SOY Fundraising Page!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my campagin fundraising page. My reasons for wanting to raise money for LLS plays a big part as to how passionate I am about this cause.

As you may or may not know, my grandfather died of cancer. While it may not have been a blood cancer, his life was cut short and his story was not able to have been fully told due to the progressiveness of his stage four lung cancer. My grandfather had a great zeal for life, constantly laughing and making the most of each second he had left, despite the hardships and pain the chemotherapy caused him. He worked his hardest until the cancer ultimately got to him, so that his children could live a better life in America. He did everything he could to make sure that not only my parents lived a perfect life, but that I, and the rest of his grandchildren, did as well. If there’s one thing I learned from him and his death in 2009, it’s that life must be lived in service and the actions ones does impacts the entire world, no matter how big or how small.

Today I am asking you for your support to help create that impact. I cannot accomplish this goal without your help. It is my heart’s desire to live out the same philanthropic spirit my grandfather held so dear. If you would like to help me reach this goal with your donation, no matter how big or how small, please donate form March 29th- May 17th! All amounts are appreciated.

Thank you so much for being apart of my journey! Your contribution will make a difference.

I am honored to participate as a team member for the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to support my candidate and am raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
