Hello! This is Kourosh Sadr. I am in tenth grade at Canyon Crest Academy.

My dad frequently tells me how great of a brother, and overall person, my uncle was. He tells me stories of them running around and playing in their house. I never got to meet him because he passed away from leukemia before I was born. His name was Kourosh Sadr. Because I was named after him, I feel that I should honor him by raising money to prevent other families from having to experience the tragety of loss to cancer.

I have been nominated as a candidate for the 2021 Student of the Year Campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). This is a seven-week fundraising campaign that lasts from January 13th - March 6th. My team, Answer for Cancer and I are working hard so that we can help future generations meet their uncles too.

It’s an honor to be a part of such an outstanding group of fellow students, but an even greater honor to be able to work for the patients, survivors, and their families. Each donation you make helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than a million Americans are battling these blood cancers, and I hope that my contribution will help bring them hope and support.

My personal goal is to raise $10,000 between January 13th and March 6th. It’s a lofty goal, but I am willing to work hard to reach it. I cannot do it alone and your support would be appreciated.

During the pandemic, patients and their families are suffering more than most, and I ask you to step outside of your comfort zone and help as much as you can.

Every donation truly brings us one step closer to a cure, which means even more to me than winning this challenge, or the Student of the Year title.
