Welcome to Kylie Durish's SOY Fundraising Page!

Mar 07, 2018

As we near the end of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year campaign, I would just like to let you all know how grateful I am for your support of my fundraising efforts. The past seven weeks, and even time before that, have not been easy, but they have been full of new experiences. I have learned so much through my participation in the campaign: how to manage my time and prioritize, how to talk to business executives, how to market and promote. These are skills that many high school students do not have, and I believe that they are very valuable now that I have learned them.

There is officially 48 hours left to raise money! We are in the final stretch. I hope that as I make my final promotions and pushes, you would do the same. Post my link to your social media account and ask for $10 donations; send an email or text with my link to some of your friends or relatives; share among your community or local church. Donations go to help families who are in the most traumatic stage of their lives; families who can not afford co-pays; families who need new medicines to keep their loved one alive! Your donations are affecting individuals in drastic ways, and your donations do not go unnoticed.

If you have already donated, THANK YOU! Your help and support has helped me in reaching my goal!

If you have not already donated, I urge you to consider making a minimum $10 donation, or at least sharing my link.

We fight for babies. We fight for children. We fight for teens. We fight for adults. We fight for elderly. And we will fight until there is a cure.

Make someday today!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me with the life-changing mission to end blood cancers!

My Story

Dec 27, 2017

In August of 2016, my life was changed by blood cancer. I was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 15. Before my diagnoses, I went to a handfull of various doctor appointments to try to figure out what was causing the large lump on my neck. I was tested for strep and mono, both came back negative. My pediatricitian had no further answers, so we put it aside. As I began 10th grade, the bump on my neck was becoming worse and more painful. I knew something was wrong. We went to an ENT as soon as we could. I had a needle biopsy done. They were only able to extract a little bit of tissue from my lymph node. However, they were able to identify it as Lymphoma, a blood cancer of the lymph nodes and lymphatic system. I hhad surgery shortly after to have the node removed and further tested. I met with my oncologist and had an EKG, CAT scan, and numerous other tests done. We talked about my roadmap for treatment. I was given dozens of heavy chemotherapy drugs in a pattern of two weeks in a row and one week break and so forth.

My life flipped upside down immediately following my diagnoses. I had to quit volleyball because of the lack of enduarance that came with my treatments. I lost my hair, which was one of the most difficult side effects to deal with. Ultimately, I lost my 'normal' teenage life. However, skepticism and sadness never overcame me. With a positive outlook and a smile on my face, I was pronounced cancer free in November 2016.

As we near the end of 2017, I am blessed to say that I am cancer free, healthy, and back to living a 'normal' teenage life.

I thank everyone for their support and love throughout my journey and continue to pray for your support throughout my campaign to give back!

Welcome to Kylie Durish's SOY Fundraising Page!

Welcome To My Fundraising Page.

Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
