Dear Friends and Family,

Today 1.2 million Americans are fighting, or are in remission from, blood cancers – and every 3 minutes another person unwillingly joins the fight. As some of you know, my grandfather, Ed Miura, is among those who have battled blood cancer – he lost his fight with lymphoma. It’s been ten years since he passed, but it has had a lasting impact on our family, especially on my dad.

Now, I have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the battle and help those living with blood cancers. The South Central Texas Austin Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has nominated me as a candidate in their annual Students of the Year fundraising challenge, and I could not be more excited to make a difference in the lives of patients across the country. I am proud to lead my campaign team and work towards our goal of raising $50,000 during the next 7 weeks—from January 10th to March 1st! I have set this goal in hopes of earning naming rights to a research portfolio in honor of my dad’s father, Ed Miura.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the largest contributor to blood cancer research in the nation. I am honoring those who have battled blood cancers and am raising money that will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find a cure and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS has invested more than $1 billion in research to date. Along with my team, I will work to increase awareness about the impact of blood cancers and the cutting-edge treatments that are currently being researched – and through this, I hope to inspire others to join the fight to find a cure.

Leukemia is the leading cause of cancer death in children and young adults under the age of 20, which is why LLS has funded over $1 billion in research towards a cure. Finding an answer to cancer is an enormous task which is why I have assembled a stellar team to assist me in my mission towards supporting this great cause within our community.

I hope to reach my goal of $50,000 by the end of this 7 week campaign which will end with a Grand Finale Celebration on March 1st where Austin’s Student of the Year will be announced. Every dollar counts as a “vote” towards my campaign and the Student with the most “votes” will be named the winner. Every dollar you donate will be matched with $2, until we reach $25,000 in donations, making every dollar you donate worth $3. That means when we reach $25,000 in donations, we will have actually raised $75,000, thanks to two generous donors connected to my team!

I ask that you give in whatever capacity you feel comfortable. All donations are tax deductible, and you can give by mailing your donation to:

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Students of the Year

Please make your check payable to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and print “Camille Miura" in the memo sectionr make your donation via this website before the March 1st  deadline. It would mean a lot to me if you would consider donating to our campaign.

All donations are tax deductible.  Please let me know if you are interested in sponsorship opportunities or donating an auction item. Large or small, your contribution to this worthy effort will be greatly appreciated. Help be a part of the cure – and help my team compete in the Students of the Year campaign.  For more information, please contact me at (512)-777-8530 or camillegmiura@gmail.com. 2019 Students of the Year Candidate

Welcome to Camille Miura's SOY Fundraising Page!

Nov 19, 2018

I am honored to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
