Isabella's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
BEATING THE ODDS
Dear Friends and Family,
I am honored to say that I am a candidate for the 2024
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student of
the Year Campaign. Student Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week
fundraising competition let by high school students to raise money and
awareness to support LLS and their mission.
I am doing this because two close family members of mine have been
affected by blood cancer. Reece Holbrook was diagnosed at the age
of two with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Through advance childhood cancer treatments,
Reece is now 22 and plays baseball at UNC. Wick Byars, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma
in 2022, unfortunately, he passed away recently due to complications of this terrible disease. I
have seen good outcomes and bad outcomes with blood cancer, and I hope through my
fundraising we will see more of the good ones.
I am writing today to ask for your support in my efforts to help LLS in its mission to ensure
access to cures and treatments for blood cancers. I am competing with several other Student of
the Year candidates in the Midlands and together we will each put our best foot forward in honor
of all those who are battling blood cancers.
Funds raised will enable LLS’s Dare to Dream project a reality. This project recognizes that kids
are different, and their blood cancer needs to be treated differently, too. Over the next 5 years,
LLS hopes to raise over $175 Million to provide innovative research, new and safer treatments,
support services, and advocacy for kids. Some of this is happening now in the Midlands of SC.
Prisma Children’s Hospital is participating in the Pediatric Leukemia master clinical trial as a
screening site. Prisma is one of the less than 70 therapeutic sites nationwide. By supporting my
campaign, you are helping transform treatment and care for kids and supporting the life-saving
work that LLS does.
Although the best cure rate of any blood cancer is found in pediatric leukemia, it is also still the
number-one disease killer among children under the age of 20. I know that as we come together
and partner with LLS, we will find a cure.
Here are some ways you can help:
1. To donate online, scan the QR code or visit our campaign website
https://events.lls.org/sc/svoymidlands24/iwalker to make a tax-deductible
online contribution.
2. Mail your contribution, please make checks payable to “The Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society” and send it to me at 109 Brass Ct. Lexington, SC 29072.
3. Spread the word about my team, Beating the Odds.
Thank you in advance for you much needed and appreciated support!
Isabella's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
