Sybil's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 16, 2022

I'm Sybil Freedman and I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?

Participating as a candidate in this fundraising competition is important to me because I am inspired by my mom and the work she does. She has been an oncology nurse for many years and I have heard countless stories about what patients experience as they undergo treatment. The challenges they face and hurdles they overcome motivate me to take action! I have also attended events like the LLS Light the Night several times and listened to supporters and survivors share stories about how blood cancer has impacted their lives.

From January 20th to March 11th, 2022, we have set a goal to raise $20,000 to help eradicate blood cancer. I have assembled a team of devoted friends and family, Team Inspire, many of whom have been impacted directly or indirectly by leukemia or other cancers. These personal ties give us the motivation to help make a difference and to fight for local blood cancer patients like our Honored Hero, Sawyer, who was diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma in August 2020.

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

In loving memory of my dear husband, Joe L. Jones. He lost his battle in 2020 after a five and a half year struggle. Also, in honor of my dear daughter, Jennifer L. Richardson. She's a 16 year survivor. Good luck to you, Sybil, with your campaign!
