Welcome to Patricia George's SOY Fundraising Page!
I am honored to participate as a team member for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
A little over a year ago my best friend, Maria Brown, was diagnosed with Leukemia. I vowed to help in every way possible, to be at the hospital every day she had to be there, to encourage her and cheer her up, and just hang with her, when that was all I could do for her cure.
Through it all I had wished I could do more, and in August, another friend nominated me for a program sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society named Student of the Year.
My goal is to raise $50,000, and I need your help. Your financial support is greatly appreciated, but I am asking for more. I need your creativity and wisdom, your contacts and networks, and most of all, your desire and commitment to help me help the tens of thousands of children and young adults who are diagnosed every year, have a chance at life.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often Then, I’d ask you to reach out to others you know and ask them to do the same. We have a myriad of methods and tools to help, and I would appreciate any and all ideas that you might have to implement these or other means to help win this fight. Please contact me at any time to discuss.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

I'm proud of Patricia, my former kindergarten student, for dedicating her time and effort to such a worthy cause. I watched a colleague take on the battle with her son and now another child from our school is facing this same disease. One brave little girl from our school has already won this battle. I hope Maria continues to do well and stays positive. Good luck, Patricia, on this quest of yours! Janet McDonald
