Bernadette's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Welcome! To start off, I would like to thank you all for visiting and supporting my fundraising page!
Who am I? My name is Bernadette Sembrano and I am a team member of Project: Hope. I am a sophomore in high school and I am happy to be supporting and raising awareness about this amazing organization. I am honored to have the privilege of advocating for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) through their Students of the Year campaign program. I love to help those around me in my environment whether it is at home or at school. I am eager to take an even bigger step in helping my community beyond school, so I am very pleased to be participating in the LLS program and helping spread awareness.
What is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Student of the Year? What do they do and what is their impact? The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is an organization that is dedicated to help find the cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. LLS has been able to raise over $1.3 billion towards cancer research, provide free educational resources and programs for patients, and there are more than 100,000 advocates across the U.S. With your support it will fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, LLS has gained support from people who are responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival for some blood cancers. Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. In addition, LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day. The LLS COVID-19 Patient Financial Aid Program provided more than $4.8 million in assistance to over 19,000 blood cancer patients. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society still has not fully completed their mission, but they are not giving up and are continuing to fight against cancer. Through LLS's Students of the Year program, high schoolers across the nation are given the oppportunity to participate in a seven-week leadership program that promotes LLS's mission of raising funds and spreading awareness in honor of young local blood cancer survivors, Honored Heroes.
Why am I participating? Cancer has impacted everyone's life some way or another, either from their own personal experience or hearing someone's closest friend, relative, or any loved one. It devastates me to see people suffering and begin to lose hope as they fight cancer because there has not yet been a cure. Seeing that LLS is a huge organization across the nation that dedicates to raising awareness and money that goes towards helping and giving cancer patients the best treatments possible, it made me want to participate. In my life I have recieved an enormous amount of blessings and support, with my healthy life I wanted to use this opportunity to help and give my support to cancer patients.
What can YOU do to help? You can help me by donating to this amazing cause. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well. Please continue to share my website with everyone you know such as your friends, colleagues, and relatives so that they can learn more about The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and join us in the fight against cancer. Together we have the power and passion to achieve a world without blood cancer. Please join my team Project: Hope and I in this fight against blood cancer!
I truly hope you can support me in my fundraiser, but of course most importantly, the lives of those who are dealing with cancer everday.
On behalf of cancer patients and their families everywhere as well as everyone at LLS, I sincerely thank you so much for your support! I greatly appreciate each and every one of you for taking the time out of your day and learning more about this incredible organization.
