This year we, Bita Beheshti and Gita Menon, are privileged to be nominated as candidates to lead a team (Race to the Cure), in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) 2021 Students of the Year Campaign. Students of the Year is a seven-week fundraising challenge led by high school students to raise money to support LLS and their cause. We are working to support LLS’s mission to find cures for blood cancers and to assist patients and families as they battle leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease or myeloma. We have been given an opportunity to help others and we cannot do it without your support!

From February 4th to March 26th, Team Race to the Cure’s goal is to raise over $15,000! Yes, you read that correctly, more than $15,000 in only 7 weeks, which will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission. We know this is an ambitious undertaking, but we know that we can achieve it with the help of our amazing friends and families.

We are leading this team in honor of our hero, Emma Geiselman, a current freshman at Lincoln High School, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) when she was only 3 years old. Emma was treated with a treatment researched and funded by LLS, and she’s now 9 years in remission! After seeing what Emma and her family went through due to this horrible disease, we wanted to participate in this great cause and do everything we can to help her and others who are affected by Leukemia and/or Lymphoma.
