Team's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Hello families, friends, and more!
Thank you for visiting Project: Hope’s fundraising page! As a team, we are incredibly proud to be a part of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year Campaign. Our team is made up of three candidates--Anna Karlshoej, Isabela Tuazon, and Isabella Stryker--as well as 13 team members. Our mission as a team is to spread awareness to our family, friends, and community and help raise funds for blood cancer patients and families in order to ultimately bring them hope and happiness during their difficulties and struggles. We are all dedicated to this cause, putting forth our best efforts to provide cancer patients with hope and faith that there is a chance for them to be cured and that there is a huge community supporting them through their journey. We are excited to make a difference in many people's lives and help others! However, in order to successfully accomplish this goal of healing and prevention, we need your support.
What is The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)?
As a global leader in the fight to end cancer, LLS is committed to doing more for blood cancer patients and families than any organization in the world. LLS’s signature fundraising campaigns drive critical support for its mission, including a nearly $1.3 billion investment in cutting edge cancer research worldwide since it was founded in 1949. Since the 1960s, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled. Every facet of LLS’s mission – research, education and support, and policy and advocacy – work in harmony to put blood cancer patients and their families first. LLS has helped millions impacted by cancer throughout its more than 70-year history, even funding breakthrough blood cancer research to advance lifesaving treatments and cures that are now helping patients with other cancers and diseases. That is why at LLS we say that beating cancer is in our blood.
What is the Students of the Year Campaign (SOY)?
Students of the Year is a leadership development program for ambitious students, who want to make an impact in the fight against blood cancer. As participants of this SOY program, we have been challenged to raise funds over a 7 week period, from February 4th to March 26th, 2021, to donate to this endeavor of curing cancer. Our team, Project: Hope, located in the Greater Sacramento area, has a dedication to bringing hope to cancer patients in need. The funds that are raised from this Students of the Year Campaign are allocated to secure universal treatment for all blood cancer patients as well as to find impactful cures and medicine. LLS uses these funds to “advance breakthrough therapies for blood cancer patients” (lls.org).
