Ryan's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Dec 28, 2020

Hello!

In October, I joined Team Sacramento Samaritans for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2021 Students of the Year Campaign. We would like to ask you for your support of our campaign and LLS’ mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients.

My LLS team has set a fundraising goal of $25,000, which will all go directly to the largest blood cancer research program in the nation, LLS! LLS will then use that money to fund cutting-edge research and treatments, including those that will benefit non-blood cancer patients. More than 40% of new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2004 started as blood cancer drugs are now being applied in other forms of cancer.

Emma is currently a freshman at Lincoln High School. She loves gymnastics, the color purple, eating at Yardhouse, and wanted to be a doctor or nurse when she grows up. She has two younger siblings named Jackson and Heidi, and a Corgi named Gidget. She is nine years in remission.

Thankfully, because of the tireless efforts of organizations like LLS, survival rates for all cancer patients have been increasing significantly! My LLS team will provide support to the critical work of LLS so no one will have to grow up without the ones they love. With your help, we can reach our goal and make a direct impact in the fight against cancer.

Sincerely,

Ryan Tengan

Ryan Tengan - My 'Why'

Jan 24, 2021

"Between 2010 and 2020, we expect the number of new cancer cases in the United States to go up about 24% in men to more than 1 million cases per year, and by about 21% in women to more than 900,000 cases per year," ("Expected New Cancer Cases and Deaths in 2020".

Cancer is a horrible disease that causes thousands of deaths to people around the globe. Thanks to organizations like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), I believe that one day we will win the fight against blood cancer together.

I do not believe that future generations should suffer the horrible consequences of cancer, and that is why I am working to help fundraise the LLS mission of finding the cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and overall improving the quality of life of those battling cancer. Families should not have to fight against cancer alone, so we all should play a role in winning the fight against cancer.

As long as we work together, through combined efforts and helping fundraise organizations like the LLS, we will put an end to cancer.

Sincerely,

Ryan Tengan

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, welcome!

I encourage you to join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. By donating to LLS, you support the many facets of LLS’s mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. My appreciation for your support cannot be overstated — each and every dollar donated to LLS brings us closer to our goal to end blood cancer and makes an impact for cancer patients and their families.

As a global leader in the fight to end cancer, LLS is committed to doing more for blood cancer patients and families than any organization in the world. LLS’s signature fundraising campaigns drive critical support for its mission, including a nearly $1.3 billion investment in cutting edge cancer research worldwide since it was founded in 1949. Since the 1960s, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled.

Every facet of LLS’s mission – research, education and support, and policy and advocacy – work in harmony to put blood cancer patients and their families first. LLS has helped millions impacted by cancer throughout its more than 70-year history, even funding breakthrough blood cancer research to advance lifesaving treatments and cures that is now helping patients with other cancers and diseases. That is why at LLS we say that beating cancer is in our blood.

Please visit my website as often as you can and share it with everyone you know who would also like to join us in the fight against cancer. Together, we have the power, the passion and the resolve to achieve a world without blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible.

On behalf of cancer patients and their families everywhere, I sincerely thank you for your support!
