I encourage you to join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. 

This year, I am running for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year with my co-candidate Ansley Riddell and my team of Saint Francis and Christian Brothers students. This campaign is a philanthropic leadership development program in which students foster professional skills through fundraising for LLS. As a high school student, I see the importance of becoming involved in our community and contributing to an organization that will help other kids who are fighting blood cancers to survive. 

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is also important to me because my great-grandfather, Peter Mikacich, died of leukemia within three weeks of his diagnosis. The disease stripped my mother and her siblings of a grandfather in less than a month. Fortunately, due to research funded by LLS, his disease is now curable though there is still so much to discover about blood cancers. Since LLS started its mission in 1949, nearly $3.1 billion have been invested in cancer research, helping find  breakthroughs in treatments and, therefore, significantly  improving the lives of patients and their families. 

Team Save the Strong has the ambitious goal of raising $15,000 over a seven-week period beginning February 4, 2021 and ending on March 26, 2021. Every dollar we raise will contribute to advances in the cure for  blood cancers, and 78 cents of every dollar goes directly to this research. Any contribution will both help our team reach our goal and allow you to be involved in the crucial work of LLS, which has funded over 60% of blood cancer therapies.
