Aniket's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 24, 2021

Dear Friends and Family,

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

This past October, I had the privilege of joining The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) 2021 Students of the Year Campaign. Students of the Year is a seven-week leadership development program that runs from February 4th to March 26th to raise money and advocate for LLS. I am writing today to ask for your support of my campaign and LLS's mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve patients' quality of life.

Formed by a dedicated group of friends and family, my team, the Sacramento Samaritans, has set a fundraising goal of $25,000! All the money raised goes directly to the most extensive blood cancer research program in the nation, LLS, to fund cutting-edge research and treatments. The treatments that LLS is funding benefit non-blood cancer patients too. More than 40% of new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2004 started as blood cancer drugs are now being applied in other forms of cancer.

Like many families around the world, my family has also been impacted by cancer. When I was about five years old, my grandmother was diagnosed with colon cancer. Every year, my grandmother used to visit me and always used to knit new sweaters for me. As I was young, I never knew the gravity of my grandmother's illness, and by the time I did realize her condition, it was too late. She lost her battle to cancer, and I was never able to see her again or feel the joy of wearing the new sweaters she would knit for me.

Fortunately, due to organizations like the LLS's active efforts, cancer patients' survival rates are increasing significantly. My team's campaign will provide support to the LLS's critical work in cancer programs and research. We hope that our campaign will help create a world where no one will have to live without the love and comfort of their loved ones.

I know that with your help, I can reach my goal and make a direct impact in the fight against cancers.

I thank you in advance for partnering with a campaign so close to my heart. To make your donation go further—check if your company matches charitable gifts (https://www.lls.org/ways-to-help/corporate-matching-gifts).

There are two ways to make your tax-deductible contribution by March 26th, 2021:

  • You can contribute online using this website.

  • If you'd like to donate by check, you can mail it to 963 Willow Bridge Dr, Folsom CA 95630, your tax-deductible contribution. Please make a check payable to "The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society." (In the memo line of the check please write "Aniket Bhosale and Sacramento Samaritans")
