Dear family, friends, and visitors of this page, I became a part of Students of the Year because of how cancer affected me a few years back. My papa was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2016. He fought that illness for a long two years and developed other cancers in the process. Despite his efforts during that long battle, my papa passed away in 2018. He died while I was standing right next to him. It was a very devastating experience. It was one of the first times I had ever experienced seeing the death of a loved one. It was also one of the first times when I really saw how devastating cancer could be. Hearing and reading the heartbreaking stories is devastating as it is, but when you actually see it happening; it really goes to show you the importance of fundraisers like this. That is why I wanna make it one of my goals to help people who have to deal with that fight and let them know they are not alone because one of the worst things in life I have learned is that feeling that you are alone, and with our contributions we can really show others that they are not alone and that there are people who are gonna help you fight this battle.

Students of the year is a 7 week campaign which raises money for patients of blood cancer. The money is raised through direct donations, fundraisers, and many other events. The money makes a big impact on people’s lives by producing funds for the treatments and research. Our team’s goal is to raise $10,000 dollars for the the Leukemia and Lymphoma society also known as LLS.
