Students of the Year Sacramento

Welcome to Team Cancervivor's SOY Fundraising Page!
Hi, we are Team Cancervivor!
We are beyond honored to participate in the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraiser to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are raising critical dollars in honor of Toben, the 2020 honored hero, who has recently battled blood cancer. Each dollar goes towards helping someone like Toben and reducing the number of kids and teens that have to suffer through blood cancer each year. Our mission is to not only raise money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Did You Know?
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
More About Toben, Our Honored Hero
Toben was diagnosed in August 2016 with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He started getting sick often, began having random fevers, then leg and arm pains that were so bad he couldn’t walk and would wince when his parents picked him up. At four years old, his pains became stronger and last longer, and after many tests, the family was told he had leukemia. But good news! Toben is now cancer-free! Toben finished treatment in November and took his last chemo pill on December 9! Fun Fact: Toben loves playing Minecraft!
