Student Visionaries of the Year Denver
Locke Scripps | Locke Down Leukemia
Locke's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibilities.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
When I was ten years old, I lost my grandfather to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. While I was very young when he died, I still remember how great of a man he was, and what Leukemia did to him. My experience with my Grandfather showed me how quickly cancer can change somebody’s life, and the lives of their loved ones.
For my campaign, I chose patient support. I choose patient support because while my grandfather was ill, I was confused, and did not understand his illness very well. I hope nobody else has to go through this
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission. My team will be competing against others in Colorado to see who can raise the most money to stop blood cancer in its tracks.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by donating. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

Mary Ann Gibson - My mother, who after she lost her husband, ran her first three marathons starting at the age of 65 for LSA (now LLS), then coached three sets of runners for LSA marathons, and she also worked in the OK LSA office as a tribute to her husband. Thanks for the wonderful commitment to the cause, everyone! Thanks Locke! Great work.
