We are Team Shatter-oma. Our team consists of our three team candidates and an amazing array of team members who are all committed to helping out for this great cause.

Our team name comes from "-oma," a medical suffix for "cancer" or "tumor." We also want to help "shatter cancer". This is how we decided on our team name "Shatter-oma."

This cause is something that we value highly due to our own connections with cancer and the research that goes into it. Amira's golf coach passed away due to a type of cancer, and all of us have a connection with cancer in some way, whether it is a close family member or friend. Additionally, Shwetha and Tvishi are conducting scientific research and have found a passion for medical outreach and assistance. We all connceted with LLS's mission and have seen the real-life impacts that the society has made, so we wanted to support the organization's mission through this campaign.

To put a face to a name, here is a short introduction of our team candidates.

Amira Badruddin

My name is Amira Badruddin, and I am a senior this year. Here are five facts about me:

1) I love to bake. My favorite thing to bake is Japanese jiggly cheesecake. 2) I love pretty much all food, but I especially like boba. 3) I play golf, and I play for our school's team. 4) I love to collect stationary to the point where my drawer can no longer hold all of them. 5) I play piano.

Shwetha Suresh

My name is Shwetha Suresh, and I am a senior this year. Here are five facts about me:

1) I like to color and above is one of my favorite colorings. 2) I like to travel. My family and I recently traveled to Singapore and Malaysia where I got to experience a new culture and try new foods. 3) I work Kumon (an after-school enrichment program) and enjoy working with kids. 4) I love desserts, especially cake. 5) I like to sing.

Tvishi Yendamuri

My name is Tvishi Yendamuri, and I am a senior this year. Here are five facts about me:

1) I love tiramisu, and it's the way to my heart. 2) I do taekwondo, and I'm a black belt. 3) I compete in HOSA-future health professional, and I'm the state president for Colorado. 4) I like to craft or do my nails in my free time. 5) I love to travel.

We have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and are working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for our campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help us earn that title?
 
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thank you for your support! Our efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
