Students of the Year is a national program dedicated to raising money for blood cancer patients and research. 40 years ago, a child diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia, the most prevalent childhood cancer, had a 4% chance of survival. Today children with the same diagnosis have a more than 90% chance of survival. I have signed up to join the fight against blood cancers, by partnering with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, with the goal of raising as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. 

I chose to take part in Students of the Year because I have lost multiple loved ones to cancer and know so many other lives that have been deeply affected by cancer. This campaign is run in honor of Joyce Marshall and Virginia Dekle, my great grandparents. 

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
