Taylor's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Dear Friends and Family,
I am incredibly honored and excited to be nominated to participate in Colorado’s Students of the Year campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). In this campaign, candidates assemble teams to compete to raise money for LLS. On January 7, 2021, we will kick off a 7-week campaign ending on February 27, 2021, to help save lives by funding research, treatments, and valuable support for patients and families as they battle blood cancers.
I know many people who have had cancer, including my mother and grandmother, who are thankfully both doing well now. Cancer affects many people and I do not want anyone to ever have to worry about losing a friend or family member to cancer. I am doing this fundraiser to help find more treatments for cancer, so that everyone who is diagnosed can one day be a cancer survivor. I also am interested in being a research scientist when I grow up, and LLS funds research for treatments. I have a passion for helping others and I want to positively impact as many lives as I can through opportunities like this. LLS is saving lives, and I am honored to be a part of that process.
Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. However, outstanding strides have been made in the treatment of blood cancers. Since 2000, more than 40% of the new cancer therapies approved by the FDA are for blood cancer. Since 2017, 55 of 65 FDAc approved treatments for blood cancer patients have been funded by LLS. Not only is LLS closer to finding a cure for blood cancer than ever before, but the organization also supports research that repurposes drugs to help fight other cancers and diseases such as Parkinson’s, MS, Diabetes, and Alzheimer’s.
The campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ends with the Grand Finale on February 27, 2021. I am thrilled to help an organization that is working to save lives and find cures, but I need YOUR help. All donations are tax-deductible.
THANK YOU!
Taylor Rorick
