Dear Friend,
It is such an honor that I have been nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Students of the Year campaign. For the duration of seven weeks, starting January 7, 2019, my team and I will be raising awareness of the research, programs, and advocacy being conducted through LLS in addition to funds to support their mission to cure blood cancers. The title Student(s) of the Year is awarded to the candidate or co-candidates in each community who raises the most funds during the competition. I am participating in this campaign in honor of my grandfather, Harry E. Pass. In 2012, when I was only ten years old, I lost my grandfather to cancer. As he fought his battle against cancer, I often felt helpless because I was so young. When I heard about Students of the Year, I knew that I wanted to participate because this is a way for me to help people who are struggling with cancer.
To assist me in raising money throughout my campaign, I have a great group of people to help reach out to people and ask for donations. Our campaign team name is “Team Hope”. Together, we are aiming to raise a total of $40,000. We hope that you will join us, and lend a hand to end blood cancer. Every donation could help save a life.
