Please join Team East Greenwich Girls in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, our efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

The campaign caught our attention after we followed the personal experience of our dear friend’s battle with blood cancer. It was hard to watch our typically lively and charismatic friend, Gema, weaken, as she was beaten down by this terrifying disease. This heartbreaking process scared us all as Gema was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the mere age of fifteen. Missing more and more school, and with increasing trips to Boston’s Dana Farber Hospital - over an hour drive taken multiple times a week - she began this arduous journey.

After a long six months of continued treatment and radiation, Gema was officially in remission by her sixteenth birthday! Her story exposed the benefits that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society can have on cancer patients and their families, and her fight has inspired us to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. After hearing about Student of the Year and the work they do on such a huge scale, we wanted the opportunity to contribute and bring hope to as many cancer patients as possible.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
