Students of the Year Palm Beach-Treasure Coast
Darren Dharia | Team HUSL
Dear Friends and Family,
I have been granted the amazing opportunity to not only help others today, but those of tomorrow in the fight against cancer. My name is Darren Dharia and I am currently a Sophomore student at The Suncoast Community High School. I was born in Florida and have lived in North Palm Beach for most of
my life. Both my father and grandfather had a passion for helping people as doctors through the medical field. I too have a passion for helping others through science and engineering and I eventually want to work in this field of study. I have an involvement with cancer through a family member, my great
grandfather. He was diagnosed with Leukemia in his 60s and passed away. I have been given this opportunity through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year campaign, and I feel compelled to do my part for disease awareness and to support those who are going through cancer,
those who have gone through cancer, and those who have family members going through cancer in any way possible. This disease has taken many lives and we need to raise awareness as well as funding. When I heard about this opportunity, I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of this in honor of my great- grandfather. In my efforts to help, I have put together a team of remarkable and devoted students and together we hope to make a difference.
The goal for this campaign is to raise as much money as possible or blood cancer research. I’m committed to raising $40,000 in just 7 short weeks, from January 13th- March 5th! With your help, we can fight to find a cure and fund research!
In Good Health,
