In 2008, I, Sarah Balbis, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which is a type of blood cancer. I was just 3 years old when my family learned of this terrible news. The journey battling cancer was hard and treacherous, and after 26 months of chemotherapy...

I am now happy to say that I am in remission!

Sadly, not all cancer patients have had this same outcome.  That is why my brother Mark & I have accepted our nomination to participate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Student of the Year Campaign.

We named our team "Journey to Wellness", since we felt this best depicts the long process of cancer treatment.

We have formed a great team and our goal is to raise $50,000 in a seven week period, from January 15^th - March 6^th, to fund blood cancer research. Every dollar that my team raises goes straight to LLS in support of their longstanding mission to find cures and improve the quality of life for patients & their families. Over the past 65 years, LLS has donated over $1 BILLION dollars to innovative cancer research. 

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.  They will not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information & support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients have access to care.
