I am pleased to announce that I have been nominated as a candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year Program. This program is a seven-week developmental and leadership program to raise funds along with awareness for Leukemia and Lymphoma. My goal is to raise $50,000 to aid in the society’s efforts to eradicate blood cancers.

I personally have watched several of my family members fight the battle of cancer. I can attest it is not an easy fight; not only for the patient but their loved ones as well. Cancer has touched all sides of my family, both my mom’s side and my dad’s side. While some have fought the battle and won, others were not as fortunate. In honor of all the members of my family who have had cancer, living or dead, I have chosen to take part in this campaign.

When the opportunity arose to take part in this campaign, I immediately knew I wanted to participate. For the longest time, I felt helpless when it came to helping out those with cancer but now I have this amazing opportunity in which I can honor those who have had the disease and help those patients of the future. I am fortunate enough to have an amazing team supporting me in my efforts and our goal is to not only raise our monetary goal but to win the campaign as a whole. This will only be possible with your help! Every dollar raised goes directly to LLS, in trying to find a cure for blood cancers.
