You have Cancer! Everyone knows someone who has heard those words. When I was in 5th grade, my best friend was diagnosed with Leukemia, the harsh chemo treatments left her struggling to find her childhood again. Luckily, she had friends to defend her from the bullies because she lost her hair from the treatments. In addition, my cousin was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of three years old; he too had to go through these harsh treatments as his family sat back and bit their nails waiting anxiously for the day the doctor says, “no evidence of the disease”. When a child or anyone gets diagnosed with cancer it takes a devastating hit at the entire family. This is why I am so excited to announce that I’m a candidate for Student of The Year (SOY)!
SOY is a seven-week fundraising campaign that lasts from January 19thto March 10th. My team The Purple Thunder Wiggles and I are working hard to hit our goal of $65,000. I was writing today to ask for your support by making a generous donation to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). You can make a donation through my website. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS- funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
LLS has pumped over $1.2 billion dollars into cancer research. In the last decade, over 40% of the cancer treatments and drugs came from LLS funded research, which is not only being used to treat blood, cancer patients, but also those affected by other cancers and diseases, such as breast and liver cancers, multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s Disease.
Please join me to support this important cause by helping my team raise critical dollars for the LLS mission. Each dollar we raise counts as a vote. The team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year.
Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. I hope together we can “Wiggle cancer out”.
Thank you for your support,
