My story

Feb 10, 2019

Hi.... my name is Madison Nolan. I am 17 years old and a senior at Saint John Paul II Academy in Boca Raton.
I lost my dad, Ed Nolan, to a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma brain metastasis on April 5th, 2018.
I never thought I would lose him.
My dad was one of the good guys!
Always smiling! Happy! Cracking jokes!
He was very proud of his 36 year employment as a lineman at FPL and truly loved  his job!
I am my dad’s only child and his pride and joy!
He loved my mom and I more than anything on this earth and would have never chosen to leave us!

My dad was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in May of 2006. He was watched for many years until December of 2016 when his disease became more aggressive and transformed to a different type of NHL. He was treated in 2017 and did so well with his treatments! At the end of 2017 we believed he was in remission. We celebrated!
In February 2018, my dad was hospitalized and we were told he had a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma brain metastasis. Less than nine weeks later my dad passed away.

I am very proud to say that I have been nominated as a Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2019 Students of the Year Program Candidate.
This is a seven week developmental and leadership program to raise funds and awareness for LLS.
My personal goal is to raise $50,000 in just seven weeks, from January 16- March 8, to help eradicate blood cancers. Not only will this money go to find LLS research but I will also be able to name a cutting edge research portfolio in memory of my father. I want to do this to make him proud, and to fight for him and many others who are currently battling this disease.

I have also chosen to do a National Dress Down Day-SmileInGreen- on March 5, 2019 to honor my dad’s smile with the world while wearing lime green- the ribbon color for NHL!

In order to raise funds and fight blood cancers, I need your support with donations, auction items, and corporate sponsorships. Please visit my website to donate.
Thank you so much for all the support!

Please donate, it’d mean a lot! I want to make my dad proud - Team SmileInGreen 💚💚💚
