Welcome To My Fundraising Page!
Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today. LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.
2020 was not a normal year... far from it. And while our lives were turned upside down by the COVID pandemic, Cancer WAS NOT cancelled in 2020 and it's not in 2021!
Nearly a decade ago, my father, Tom Dunham, was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). CML is a blood cancer that is caused by a chromosome mutation that occurs spontaneously and doctors/researchers are not certain about what causes it. Since the introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy in 2001, CML has been transformed from a life-threatening disease to a manageable chronic condition for most patients. People are living longer with CML and experiencing fewer treatment side effects.
This breakthrough in therapy was the result of hundreds of thousands of hours of research, trial and error and a commitment to a cure. Imagine this… my dad’s treatment pathway and life expectancy would have been dramatically reduced had he been diagnosed only a decade earlier. It’s with this in mind that humbly ask for your support.
For the fourth year in a row, my wife, Jordan is joining me and several of our good friends in a bicycle tour that in total, raised over $1.5M to fund leukemia research for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Wisconsin in 2020. LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.
Our team, Philly 22, was recognized by LLS last year as a top fundraising team out of more than 1,300 total riders, raising over $50,000! Out of an abundance of caution, last year's ride was modified to accommodate precautions related to COVID and as a result, we organized our own ride with triple the number of riders from 2019... AND we shattered our 2020 fundraising goal!
This year, like previous years, I am riding in my Dad’s honor and in memory of my grandfather, Hal Dunham, who survived with lymphoma for several years before he passed in 2010. We have a new goal of surpassing $65,000 and we need your help!! I know I can count on you!
Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis. We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
