Welcome to my 2021 Scenic Shore 150 Fundraising Page. I have been involved with this event for nearly 2 decades, as a volunteer and a rider. It began a a fun weekend with friends as a way i could privately honor my parents who passed from Leukemia. It was a way of 'visiting their graves' so to speak. In 2015 I began to work on the Oncolgoy Unit at my local hospital as a RN. My ride took a different importance on. As I would ride the long miles i found myself honoring my patients and in a small way fighting for them with each mile and remembering the ones that had passed. With each mile i knew we needed to keep fighting for a cure! The longer i rode the more i knew... Fighting Cancer is in MY blood!!
Then March 22, 2019 happened. I sat in the doctor's office with my 15yr old and heard the words, "It has been confirmed she has Leukemia, CML" This kid just can not catch a break!! After the past 2 years of fighting a rare blood clot in her head, now this! So after the fear, anger and tears subsided... we set off on our fight! Today, Thanks to research funded by LLS, a year after diagnosis and two chemos laster, Riley is in Remission!! She will stay on Sprycel (chemo funded by LLS) So... Truthfully.... FIGHTING CANCER IS IN MY BLOOD!! Please join my in my fight for a cure! Donate today and concider joining me the rest of the Hive as we ride each mile to find a cure!
LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.
And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
