Oh The Places You will Go...
"You have brains in your head, feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself any direction you choose
You are on your own and you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go."
-Dr. Suess
The morning is a little doleful, with grey clouds threatening to burst into rain any minute, but damn it.. I am determined to ride today! I believe blue skies await me today! What running and biking solo has taught me is that joy always presents itself in unexpectant places if you push yourself to take a chance, if you are willing to risk getting little uncomfortable, and if you put your fears aside and exlpore the unkown. We are so used to choosing comfort over finding our edge, and end up missing out on the unfathomable gifts. A little trepidation and a little discomfort teaches us how much inner strength we have. And sometimes, being the only one out on a lonely road allows us to speak to our soul through the rain.
So, who cares if there's a chance of rain, a chance you may get cold, or tired, or even lost...ride to feel things you never felt before and to leave what you don't want to feel behind. Every long run or bike journey changes me in some way.; and I never regret pushing myself out the door to do it. The essense of this little homily today is: every single day- rain or shine- you can choose a daring adventure, or nothing at all... I choose to be free. Life is too short to wait for the perfect sunny day. Today's ride is for all the cancer patients who would be happy to choose a bike ride in the rain if they were given a chance, over what trials they have to face today. Perspective.
Please consider donating to my fundraiser today and help a patient with blood cancer get the treatment and care they need to survive.
On, On! Namaste.
