This year, for the 16th time, I am in training for the Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour. On July 20-21, I will be riding 150 miles with friends, teammates, fellow cancer warriors, and many others who will be acting to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to cure blood cancers. I am an 18-year survivor, currently in the middle of a 2-year course of maintenance treatments for my non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
The success of my treatments comes in part from the ground-breaking research LLS has fostered and funded for decades. Therapies derived from this research not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.
The Scenic Shore 150 is the largest locally organized and supported event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. With 1,300 riders raising over $1.4 million the Scenic Shore 150 continues to be one of the premier charity cycling events in Wisconsin. My Team Chemo-Sabe continues to be a key fundraising player – since we began in 2005, team members have raised over $500,000 for LLS.
Join me in this effort by clicking the "Make a Donation" button; no amount is too large or too small. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Thank You!
