Welcome To My Fundraising Page!
The Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour is a 2 day, 150 mile cycling event to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With 68 chapters spanning the US and Canada, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since it’s founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $688 million in leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma research.
My own personal experience with these illnesses dates to childhood when a 5 year old neighbor died of Acute Leukemia. I will never forget the incredible feeling of futility and hopelessness that his illness and death left in us. This undoubtedly was a major contributing factor in my later decision to pursue training in cancer and blood related diseases after completion of my Internal Medicine training. I am happy to report that now many of these diseases are curable and almost all are treatable with prolongation of life and improvement in quality of life. Research funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has led to key advances in understanding blood cancers and the life-saving drugs to fight them.
Nine years ago we formed The ProHealth Care Regional Cancer Center bike team to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our bike team was subsequently changed to Cyclo-therapy. Every year we have approximately 30 riders that join with more than 1000 other riders from Mequon to Sturgeon Bay in support of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
I hope you will help us. So many people will be benefitted by your generosity. Thank you!
