Greetings, fellow climbers, supporters, and friends of the Emery Jags Climbing Team! As we gear up for this year's Big Climb, we're excited to share the inspiring story behind this event.
The event was brought to Emery by Rebecca Risch '21, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma during her freshmen year. The event became an annual tradition through the school and became even more important in the community when a second student was diagnosed her senior year, Rachel Gettleman '22, whom we honored the climb in 2022. Both girls are in remission! This year, we're excited to introduce Avery Hildreth, Class of '27, who has been in remission for 4 as our honored hero, carrying forward the Big Climb legacy.
In the past, our team has broken records with over 30 climbers and held the title of Houston's top fundraiser, and we hope to continue breaking records this year!
Whether you are a climber or supporter, thank you for your interest and donations to this amazing cause. We look forward to seeing you at the climb on April 6th.
Go jags!
