Thank you for stopping by our Be Brave and Cowboy Up team page. Here is a little about why we do what we do and who we do it in Memory of AND those for which we are raising funds!

It is our 3rd year to have a team in honor of both Jeff Rothell and Ellie. Jeff is a friend of ours from Fellowship Church and he went to be with Jesus after a battle with lymphoma. Ellie is my daughter and she fought Myelodysplastic Syndrome(MDS), and ultimately turned into Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She underwent 2 stem cell transplants and spent 7 months in the hospital and almost a year in isolation when home. Ellie's father, Bill Johnson, will be climbing with us and so will Ellie's 9 yr old sister Kathryn, who was the stem cell donor for Ellie's 1st transplant. We are not yet sure if Ellie's older brothers will be able to climb with us this year.

Monday, January 23, 2017 Ellie Grace passed away from AML. Friday, 1/27, we had the visitation for Ellie, Saturday morning our team participated in the Big D Climb, then Sunday, we had Ellie's Celebration of Life. It meant so much to us to have people participate in that event with us. It was a incredibly bittersweet weekend as our hearts were broken and we were also surrounded by love!

This event is our way of honoring Jeff, Ellie and also supporting those that unfortunately are currently, or will be fighting battles with blood cancers. This year's climb will be just 3 days after the 2 year mark of Ellie's passing. This provides a good opportunity to use our heartbreak to help others!

Welcome To Be Brave and Cowboy Up's Fundraising Page

We climb in Memory of Ellie Grace, Jeff Rothell, and all those who have lost their lives to blood cancers.

Please join us in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, our efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded druges are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere we thank you for your support!
