This summer, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Swim-A-Thon Campaign is raising money and awareness for blood cancer research. Swim-A-Thon is a fundraising campaign that directly supports the mission of LLS and takes place at a variety of community and club pools in the DMV area each summer.
The Mill Creek Swim-A-Thon is on July 9th at 8am!
Please join us in supporting this wonderful cause by making a donation today! Your donation and support will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.
If you wish to pledge per lap instead of just a general donation, please contact your swimmer directly and let them know. Once the swim-A-thon is complete, the swimmer will tell you the number of laps he or she swam, and then you can donate on this site.
Regardless of the type of donation, please make sure to indicate the swimmer’s name in the “your message” section before you submit your donation.
Why Is It Important? Leukemia is the most common form of childhood cancer and while the 5-year survival rate for childhood leukemia has improved (from 3% in 1964 to 90% in 2019), there is still work to do! With your help and participation we CAN get to a 100% survival rate!
We really are changing the face of blood cancer! Your participation allows LLS to fund advancements in research, treatments and patient access for those battling blood cancer. But it doesn’t stop there -- 40% of FDA approved blood cancer therapies are now being tested to treat other cancers and diseases like breast cancer, Diabetes, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer and more. Your donation will help continue this progress!
