In Memory of Susie A. Stephan (Louissa)
Susie Stephan left this Earth to be with our Lord and Savior in heaven at 62 years old. Susie was an endearing wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She made this world a better place by being in it and made all in her presence feel an abundance of love. Susie was deeply loved and cared for by all of her family and friends, who stood by her and prayed over her through every step of her battle against cancer. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her well and also by those who only knew of the love and admiration that she inspired.
Susie's bravery, strength, determination and leadership made a lasting impact on her family, friends, and business associates. Always kind, generous, and caring, Susie will be remembered for her graciousness, class, incredible work ethic and success, positivity, strength, wisdom, genuineness, and for emanating an aura of happiness, compassion, love, and sincerity.
Born in Iraq and immigrating to the United States in the 1950's, Susie grew up to become her late father's right hand, helping build, manage, and flourish the family business. She spent her entire life working very hard, loving unconditionally, and supporting her family and loved ones. Susie married Nazar Stephan on June 12, 1983 in West Bloomfield, Michigan, began their family, and soon after moved to Augusta, Georgia, where they raised their three children. In Georgia, she continued her entrepreneurship, managing and operating five party supply retail stores and a real estate company with her husband. Susie always said the right thing, did the right thing, never took short-cuts, and was an exceptional woman who led very successful businesses that still thrive today.
Susie loved to do for others, did everything with intention, enjoyed cooking and planning holiday feasts, was a natural athlete that excelled in any sport she partook in and led a very active, healthy lifestyle. She enjoyed learning new things, spending time with her loved ones, going for walks with her friends, and traveling the world. Susie loved the southeastern mountains and Michigan lakes. She took care of people and never asked for nor expected anything in return. Susie's smile, happiness, laugh, and open-mindedness put all those around her at ease. She had the ability to lighten any darkness and laugh during the most challenging of times. All who love her will forever strive to embody her strength and courage.
Susie was predeceased by her father Francis, her brother Sameer, and her sister Cindy. She is survived by her loving husband, Nazar; their wonderful children, Lauren (Ned), Janine (fiancé Jonathan), and Nicholas; her mother Gladys; sisters and brothers Theresa, Sandi, Paul, Pauline (Don), and eleven nieces and nephews; and many dear cousins, relatives and friends.
Susie lived and loved unconditionally and without judgment or fear. Her uncommon grace inspires our strength and capability to overcome any hardship. With her spirit instilled in our hearts and memories, we'll forever be Susie Strong.

Please join us in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. Your support will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.
LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
