Last year, I had the honor of participating in Blood Cancer United's Velo Palmetto event which is three-day cycling experience and philanthropic competition designed for riders who want to make a difference. I'm excited to share I've signed up again this year, proudly riding in honor of cancer warrior, fellow rider, and friend, Babette Alvarez.
In 2023, Babette learned that her multiple myeloma had relapsed for the third time. After already undergoing two bone marrow transplants, her treatment options were limited. Fortunately, thanks to continued breakthroughs in blood cancer research, Babette underwent CAR-T immunotherapy, a cutting-edge treatment that Blood Cancer United has helped fund. Babette is officially in remission again, and I am honored to dedicate my campaign efforts to her.
In addition to honoring Babette, I will also take on an extraordinary challenge of riding the entire Tour de France route just 2 weeks before the race begins in Barcelona. This once-in-a-lifetime experience represents both a personal goal and powerful symbol of perseverance, strength, and hope. All 2,071 miles will be fueled by my dedication to Blood Cancer United and the patients and families who rely on continued research and support.

Blood Cancer United is responsible for many of the advancements that have contributed to increased blood cancer survival rates over the years. And, many Blood Cancer United supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with other forms of cancers as well.
